So … up at the crack of dawn to get to Dorking on Sunday morning, and despite a small navigational error that took me on a detour through Leatherhead, arrived in good time and got the table set up ready for the morning rush …
We were expecting a good turnout, as the fair runs alongside the monthly Dorking antiques fair …. but we were disappointed.
An incredibly low turnout for both events meant that we had long periods in an empty hall with nothing to do but admire each others’ goodies …
I was very taken with these from Rocket and Fairydust
and some lovely, elegant cultured pearl jewellery by Clare Swann:
I have such a weakness for handmade soaps, and these by Anthea were just divine …. (she doesn’t have a website, but I do have her contact details if you want to get in touch).
Rather than being totally dispirited by the solitary sale of a lavender pillow, I’m putting it down to just being one of those days … I’m guessing that people have summer holidays and new school uniforms to pay for, and are holding their breaths before plunging into a handmade Christmas.
