A little friendship doll project

A friend of mine picked up four of these supercute little buttons today:

Aren’t they gorgeous?

She’s kept two for herself, and given two to me … with the idea that we use them to each make two fabric dolls – one to keep & one to give to the other.

It’s such a lovely idea … I can’t wait to get started on it! I’ve wanted to make a fabric doll for the longest time, and now I have the perfect opportunity to do it 🙂

It’s a little nerve-racking, though, because she is the fabulously talented Jos of Wild Spirit, who makes the most gorgeous little beaded dolls. Her wonderful Laussel Venus-inspired red beaded doll was selected last year for the Surrey Open Arts Exhibition, so I’m in illustrious company. I just hope my effort comes up to scratch.

(Of course, I have one or two other projects to finish off first, as always, but I’ll keep you posted on progress as and when it happens).

Working small and slow

Getting back into the swing of things after a wretched couple of weeks … the cold I had developed into a full-blown flu that laid me out for the best part of a week, and then, just when I thought things were starting to pick up, the muscle in my neck and shoulder seized up and I got to spend another week alternating between total agony and medicated blankness.

I’m still feeling slow, and because RSI might be a contributing factor to the shoulder problem, I’m working small and in short bursts before I get back to working on the bigger, detailed pieces … and so, some little monochrome corsages in linen and lace.
