Over 250 wonderful people have liked my facebook page, and so to celebrate, I’m running a little giveaway until the end of August …
This little art quilt from the ‘fragments’ series I’ve been working on – Summer’s lease hath all too short a date (I’ll be sharing more on them in the autumn) – and a little lavender heart made from vintage fabric ….
The lettering is machine embroidered over a fragment of an old embroidered pillow case …..
It’s so fresh and pretty … and I love that quote from Sonnet 18 – it’s like a reminder to make the best of the good times, to celebrate happiness, because it can be a fleeting thing …. we should take the time to pause and appreciate it, and store up the memories for winters. It seemed somehow apt as a celebration of something that has made me feel so amazingly happy!!
And as a bonus you get this sweet little lavender heart as well ….
It’s so easy to enter …. simply pop on over to my facebook page and click on the ‘giveaway’ tab … follow the instructions, and your name’s in the hat.
The giveaway is open until 12:00 on 31st August 2013, and is open internationally …. no postage to pay, either (cos I wouldn’t do that to you!) and you can earn a bonus entry by tweeting about it, too.
Some of you may remember my ‘Eve’s Garden’ boro quilt …. I finished it about a year ago and after spending so many hours embroidering it, I couldn’t bear to part with it …. so it’s been tucked up in tissue paper for safekeeping ever since.
Until a call went out for entries from the UK for the World Quilt Competition 2013 … and I had a sudden rush of blood to the head, turned off my inner critic (she’s really harsh), decided I had nothing to lose (except general derision and instant expulsion from the Quilters Guild 😉 ) and submitted it.
Imagine which cloud I landed on when I got this email ….
“I am pleased to inform you that your quilt has been selected to be judged at the World Quilt Competition and will hang on display during the event from August 15-18 in Manchester, New Hampshire. As a reminder, these quilts will tour the United States and also be displayed at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza (Greater Philadelphia Area) in September, the Pacific International Quilt Festival (San Francisco Bay Area) in October and at the World Quilt Show – Florida, January 9 – 11, 2014”
After I’d picked myself up off the floor, and un-dropped my jaw, I spent the rest of the day floating around on cloud 9 …..
I’m still not sure I’ve completely come down ….
even getting it ready to go – sewing on a hanging sleeve and label – haven’t quite sunk it in yet ….
I’m busy trying to figure out if there’s any way I can get to the States to see it hanging with the other quilts …. it would be the *most* terrifying and thrilling experience …. and is probably the only thing that would make this all feel really real (if you know what I mean).
It is, literally, a dream come true.
