Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I hope Santa was good to you all, and that 2013 brings you everything you hope for …. and to help welcome in the year and start it off properly, I’ve got a couple of offers on the go – read on!

I apologise for the radio silence the last couple of months – I know I’ve been a little sporadic with my updates …. part of that was busy-ness with all the peripheral goings-on over the Christmas period and the lead up to it, and part of it is that it’s a tough time of the year for me …. I lost both my grandmothers in these dark months, and got hit by a particularly nasty bout of PND – which seems to recur in varying virulence every year. Even though I feel I got off lightly last year, I still go through a phase of needing to hibernate and curl in on myself for a while.

But! It’s all over now, and I’m jumping into January just bursting with energy …. so we’re all good to go!

It’s already looking like it’s going to be a busy year in the laundry …. I’ve already had 2 orders for custom quilts, and am having a lovely conversation about a possible third – fingers crossed!

In the meantime, the wall of work-in-progress isn’t getting any smaller ….. but I *will* finish these this year (well, maybe not the hexipuff quilt!) and I promise I’ll update you as I go along rather than just tantalising you with little glimpses …

I’m also heavily involved with the Alchemy 2013 course I’m taking with Karen Ruane … fulfilling a promise to myself that I’d spend some time this year developing my sketchbook practice. It’s all in the early stages of development – at the moment it looks something like this:

I can’t talk about this in detail, but it involves maps and memories. It’s going to be interesting to see how I translate this into cloth and stitch …. even I’m not sure, yet!

As you can probably tell from the images, I’m spending more time on the quilts and textile art pieces at the moment, so something’s had to give ….. so I’m not going to be making any more of my patchwork tote bags for a while. I’m offering the remaining few at up 50% DISCOUNT in my Etsy shop just now … if you want one, this is probably your last chance!

What else is on the cards? Well ….. talking of cards, I’ve got an ATC swap coming up soon …. something else I’ve been intending to play with for a while and am finally getting around to …. I’m looking forward to experimenting with a few new techniques and ideas on a small scale – and yes, I will share them with you when I have something to show!!

I will be attending a few art and craft fairs over the year …. I’ll announce them closer to the time, and I’ll almost certainly be popping up in a shop around here soon!

So – the year ahead is feeling exciting and full of possibility!! I’m really looking forward to it! And I’d like to share my general shiny-happy-bouncy-ness with you all by offering you a little gift …. the coupon code HAPPYNEW13 will get you a sparkly 13% off anything and everything in my Etsy store – including commissions for custom work – until January 31st.

I hope you’ve got plenty of good things in prospect for the year ahead, too …. please do share! I love hearing from you all 🙂
