I’ve been rather slackadaisical the last week or so … a lot of other projects on the go, school holidays and a little redecorating have kept me away from the computer, but I think normal service can now be resumed!
And so, at last, the final fix of my FibreFest Devon highlights. I had such a wonderful day there – can you tell?
Into the second marquee … and immediately a spinner

Gorgeous loom from Hedgehog … and I was amazed how fast those beautiful bare feet were working the treadle.
Drum carding with Tutlemutley and Wrigglefingers … so straightforward – couldn’t help but think it’d make light work of my sack of alpaca wool
Amazing watching the Brinkley Loom in action at Plant Dyed Wool … the unspun, carded fleece went in so fast. I might have to flutter my eyelashes at my ever-so-extremely lovely husband and ask him if I can have just a teeny tiny one for Christmas!
I did, though, treat myself to a peg loom from Fire and Fibre … with an eye to my enormous stash of old denim …
And I had a go at a little proddy rag rugging, with Deborah Hastings … great fun, and very satisfying, and a nice way to wind down a little after all the excitement. I went completely wild and bought myself a prodder … with visions of what I might now do with all those tiny scraps I haven’t quite been able to sling out.
I fell in love with this sample rag rug at Hemp Fabric UK …
And was sorely, sorely tempted by the fabrics & yarns there … so beautiful, so soft, and in every weight imaginable. As soon as I have the right project ….
I’ve always been a committed hand-embroiderer (and sometimes felt that I should be committed – to an insane asylum – during some pieces), but I had a little road-to-damascus moment when I saw Jan Tillett demonstrating free motion embroidery.
I might give it a try …. (you won’t tell anyone I said that, will you?)
And that was more or less that.
Wonderful, wonderful day … can’t wait for next year!
