A difficult time of year for the crafter …. I’m working on a few things, but can’t share them with you just now because they fall under the speshal sekrit category reserved for Christmas gifts …. so I’ll save those for the new year!
I was due to go to my final craft fair of the year this weekend (Chertsey Love Vintage and Retro), but it’s been cancelled due to the appalling weather. I’m kind of glad the organisers decided to call it off, because I was getting anxious about how on earth I was going to get there, and whether (even if I did get there) enough people would turn out for it to justify the table fee. So that’s that until the season starts up again in March/April next year … and also on the up side, now I come to think of it, I get a good few months to play with my own ideas, since I won’t have to restock the stall – YAY! I’m glad now that I didn’t have a huge amount of ’seasonal’ stock for this Christmas fair … but I do feel for all the people with perishables and a lot of seasonal stock who were planning to go.
Anyway … the sewing room is a constant battleground in terms of keeping everything organised and tidy, and I never seem to have quite enough storage for all the various bits and pieces – so the annual school-shoe-buying mission is a godsend for “free” storage. But shoe boxes are so *dull* as they are, so I got out the mod-podge and some fabric from stash …. and some (sticky) time later, funky storage boxes for me!
And I finally got round to a little project for my room …. I’ve loved what Squint do ever since I saw a picture of a fabric-covered dresser over on Flickr …. I’ve got my eye on a few things I’d like to have a go at covering here at home (being as I’m not lucky enough to be able to afford Squint!), but started small with this little chest of storage drawers I got from IKEA ages ago.
I’m quite pleased with how it turned out, but I do wish I’d painted the wood first! Ah well, we live and learn
